fleeting innocence
some truths sit on your tongue until someone else speaks them first
A shard of my soul I concealed,
a desperate attempt to dominate the chaos
I couldn’t control.
And for a fleeting moment,
I knew how it felt to be seen
for who I was,
and not the cards that life dealt me.
But the whispers of others reached your ears,
and just as I feared,
you saw my innocence disappear.
Well written! It feels honest and emotional and shows how hard it is to hide pain and how powerful it can be to feel truly seen. But when others judge or gossip, that feeling of safety disappears. It’s about trust, fear, and the sadness of being misunderstood.
It's a beautifully painful piece.. Leaves you wondering about all the unspoken burden layered behind it. Well written!
